This is the first week of our 13-week series in the book of Judges! We’ve spent the last year and some change getting a close look at what it looks like to have a King, but in the book of Judges, we’ll get to see what it’s like to live without a king. The book of Judges opens with v1:
”After the death of Joshua, the Israelites inquired of the Lord, “Who will be the first to fight for us against the Canaanites?”
The book then concludes with:
”In those days there was no king in Israel; everyone did whatever seemed right to him.” (21:25)
With this in mind, we’ll dive right into the passages. For the sake of time on Sundays, we’ll only cover a portion of the passage, but here, we’ll read through whole chapters at a time and get the big picture! We sent this in an email earlier last week, but for this series, we won’t have full discussion guides, and instead, we’ve sent you a copy of Judges For You, by Timothy Keller. This book is an amazing resource, and we have used some of the books from this series before, so the rest are absolutely worth checking out as well! That said, we’ll only have discussion questions in these posts, so be sure to continue to check back each week if you’re wanting to use the questions for discussion! As always, thank you for all you do in leading our church so well. As a staff (and as members of King’s Table), we’re so thankful for you!
