Psalm 85:1-13 〰️ God's Restoration 〰️

Hello! This is the second week of a brief three-week series in the Psalms: RENEW US. Our hope for this quick series is that we will see the ways in which God renews us. Last week, we meditated on God's Word and its capacity to renew us daily, and this week, we're focussing on God's restoration in Psalm 85.

As a staff member, we spent most of the week getting the new box truck, so I wasn't able to finish this week's guide. The questions for discussion are below! If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to me or your coach. And if you want to do any further studying on this passage, the Gospel Coalition did a short devotional in Psalm 85!

As always, we're thankful for all you do and who God made you to be. King's Table wouldn't be the same without you leading our people in the many ways you do!

Discussion Questions

  • What stood out to you from the passage?

  • Does anything in this passage remind you of another part of Scripture?

  • Do you have any questions?

  • What is the psalmist trying to teach us in this passage?

  • What does it mean for us to "listen to what God will say"? (v8)

  • Reread v5. Are there ever times when you feel like God is angry at you? Why do we sometimes feel this way?

  • Read 1 John 2:1-2. How does Jesus' sacrifice change our understanding of God's anger and mercy, as described in Psalm 85:5?
