What should my cg do during the summer?

We're now finished with our short series in Psalm 23 and Mark Vol. 1, so this summer, we'll spend six weeks in Daniel 1-6. Each chapter in Daniel is relatively long compared to the pace we usually read, so it'll feel more of a flyover than a deep dive. With that said, we're at the beginning of summer, and you or some of your folks have likely already been out of town at some point. It's common for church attendance on Sundays and during the week to drop between May and August, so don't fret! Summer can be a natural break from our weekly rhythms of gathering around and studying a passage, providing an excellent opportunity to lean into the community aspect! Many groups plan social outings or events for their people, which can be a fun opportunity to invite new folks who might not normally come to a "Bible study." I'll list some ideas below, but feel free to do whatever interests your group!

We'll still have our weekly discussion guides here, but they'll likely be more concise as we gear up for the fall! We're beyond grateful for you, your leadership, and your care for the church. Praying that Christ be magnified in our community this summer as we're in the Word and community together!

Some CG social ideas to get the ideas flowing:

  • Go to a baseball game

  • Game night

  • Trivia night

  • Gather at a restaurant

  • Cookout

  • Minigolf

  • Picnic at a park

  • Lake day

  • My personal favorite: “Bring your own pool” party (everyone brings a mini inflatable or kiddie pool, fill them up in a back yard and enjoy the sun together in your own personal pool!)

Of course, these are just a few ideas to get the ball rolling. In the end, we want our groups to grow closer to the Lord and one another, so find out what might best fit and interest your group and go for it!
