Cru

At King’s Table we are grateful to partner with ministries and churches who are deeply committed to making disciples in our city and around the world. This month we are asking you to pray for one of our college ministry partners, Cru at NC State, Wake Tech & Meredith.  Cru is a caring community passionate about connecting people to Jesus. Here’s an update from their team leaders Abby Hyde & Daniel Bass:

Lately whenever anyone asks how ministry is going on campus, the only way I know how to answer is with the word revival. We launched this year with our feet fitted with the readiness of the gospel of peace, hearts expectant for God to move on campus. Since then, we have seen over 45 students come to faith!

From initiating spiritual conversations on campus to sharing the gospel in the Greek system, our Cru students are reaching their campus. Ellia has had multiple conversations with her professor about faith. John came to Christ and brought 22 of his frat brothers to our large group meeting the following week. Priya’s family growing up was never really religious, but her life changed when she read the Bible and began a relationship with Jesus. Revival really is happening on the college campus today! The Spirit is drawing people into God’s family. Our family.

For the last few years, we have been faithful to "do" ministry with Greek students. We put on monthly meetings, host Bible studies, disciple students, and invite them to join us on Summer Mission. But something about this semester is different.

God is changing lives in the most organic ways. He's using Cru, local churches and other ministries to help students see their need for God and we are just trying to keep up with it all. Here's a few stories:

Before the semester even started, I had two guys ask to meet up and talk about how they could be right with God. They also wanted to start a Bible study back up in their fraternity and forty-two students showed up to the first one. Every week since, I have had 2-3 guys to follow up with from Sig Ep and Sig Nu.

A Sigma Chi student reached out to me after buying himself a Bible and not knowing where to begin.

A Kappa Sig student felt like God wanted him to lead a Bible study but had no idea how and asked for help and guidance, and now he is actually doing it.

A Fiji member wondered what it would be like to use his Fraternity house to share Christ with his brothers and organized  "A Night of Hope" where ten brothers gave their lives to Christ.

There are so many more stories to tell and more to be written - what a cool time to be on the college campus!

Also, right around this time of year there are 39 students from Cru at NC State who are preparing to take the gospel to the world on spring break trips! These students are headed to Guatemala, Spain and the Jamaica!

Around 300 students will also head to Destin, Florida with Cru for spring break. This is a week full of a gospel-centered community that has been so encouraging and transformative in student’s lives over the years. Would you pray along with us for the students going on these trips?

Ways to Pray for Cru Spring Break Trips

- God to provide funds for these students to cover the cost of airfare, food, lodging, outreach materials

- God would lead us to people who are spiritually hungry and/or curious about Jesus.

- God would grant each team with unity, courage, joy, and dependence on the Spirit as they step out in faith.

- God would stir in their hearts the urgency to take the gospel back to their classmates/professors/roommates on campus.

- God would encourage students in gospel-centered community to surrender their lives more fully to Him.

- God would raise up life-long laborers for a harvest that is ready all around the world!
