Provisional Elder Board

Our Provisional Elder Board functions as an external group of 3-6 wise leaders who volunteer to provide Godly counsel, coaching, feedback, and accountability for the pastor(s) of King’s Table Church. We are grateful for the willingness and sacrifice of these men to invest their knowledge, experience, and care to establish health and vitality in this growing church plant. As our young church matures, we will seek, by God's grace, to develop humble servants to lead and to love our church as elders in the years ahead. Until that time, this Provisional Elder Board will guide our Lead Pastor by meeting with him monthly physical or via Zoom, hearing the status of the plant, affirming financial decisions, and providing much needed accountability. We believe that this Provisional Elder Board is a vital part of a church plant becoming a fully established local church with a qualified, healthy, and plural eldership.

    • Member of Vintage Church, former pastor and missionary in France

  • Dylan Dodson - Church Planter Practitioner

    • Lead Pastor, New City Church, Raleigh, NC

Expectations & Involvement

  • Financial Advice & Oversight

  •  Weekly Prayer for our church, pastor, & family

  • Be visible to our church body in whatever ways possible (visit, preach annually, etc.)

  • Length of Term | 2-year commitment (August 2023-August 2025)

  • Dissolution of the Provisional Elder Board will occur when there are four total elders within the community of King’s Table Church

  • Looking over financial reports and meeting agendas to prepare for meetings

  • Monthly checking in on leadership and church health

  • Being available to mediate conflicts

  • The church body will have direct access to provisional elders

  • The lead pastor of King’s Table Church will take responsibility for getting these provisional elders regular, timely information, including scheduling of meetings and meeting minute follow-ups.

  • Provisional Elder Board members will notify the Lead Pastor with one month’s notice if they need to.

  • Meetings:

    • Monthly meeting in person or via Zoom until three total elders are in place

    • Quarterly meeting in person or via Zoom until four total elders are in place

Purpose of Provisional Board

  • Protect the Church

  • Offer experience and expertise

  • Help King’s Table Church fulfill the Great Commission in our portion of the city

  • Fire or discipline lead pastor

  • Set lead pastor salary and benefits

  • Provide accountability for the lead pastor

  • Approve New Hires

  • Approve annual budget
